"Corn in the Augusta Bottom, Fog"
Oil   8x10
Inspiration and Design: View subject
My plan was to spend the day painting in Augusta, MO.  Foremost, I wanted to paint a sunset at the end of the day, so I was in no big hurry to get to Augusta.  However, I checked the weather forecast as soon as I got up, and it indicated that Augusta was currently experiencing fog.  I didn't even shave before I left.  To my delight, the fog was still heavy when I arrived.  Fog lays heaviest in the river bottoms, leading me right to this scene.  My primary goal for this painting was to depict fog in the Missouri river bottom planted with corn.
