"The Setter"
Oil   3x4
Inspiration and Design:
This painting was created from a video of Mary playing the setter position at a volleyball game at the Cor Jesu gym.  The photograph depicts well the offensive attack in the game of volleyball.  The backrow sends the ball the setter, and the setter delivers the ball to one of the three front-court players.  The tall front-court players all approach the net as though they are getting the ball so that the defense does not know from where the ball will be struck.  My primary goal for this painting was to depict the class volley attack and Mary's stance when preparing for the set.

"The Catcher"
Oil   3x4
Inspiration and Design:
This painting was created from a photograph of Ryan catching in a tournament at John A. Logan Junior College, near Carbondale, Illinois.  The photograph depicts the familiar lineup of batter, catcher, and umpire.  My primary goal for this painting was to depict Ryan in his catcher's crouch.
